20 Day Book Challenge on Booksky

New year, new resolutions. I’m not good with resolutions. Most of the time I make them, and by February they are already lost in the wind. So when I popped into Bluesky today, I happened upon a challenge.

I love challenges. I’m an Aries, so I’m fired up in the beginning and give it all I’ve got. But I tend to drop the ball in the middle. But this challenge is great. It’s all about books. I love books. It’s only 20 days. I’ve got this!

The Challenge

The challenge is simple: Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you one book per day for 20 days, in no particular order no explanations, no reviews, just covers. #booksky💙📚 #bookchallenge #20DayBookChallenge #20books #20books20day

I can do just book covers. Here’s my first post. The hard part is lasting all 20 days. It’d be easy if I could just post all 20 covers at once. The problem is that I have so many favorite books. How do I decide?

My Favorite Book

I definitely have to talk about my all time favorite book: Hardy Boys Casefiles #11: Brother Against Brother. This is the book that got me hooked on mysteries. This is also the one that got me into collecting books.

I got this book in sixth grade from Mr. Sacks. It was an award for a perfect test. Winning the book was like winning the lottery. He had a collection of books to choose from. Something drew me to this one.

Before getting this book, I mostly read animal stories, humor, and the Baby-sitter’s Club. After that I got caught up with mysteries, spies, and action.

Books as Rewards

So, when I became a teacher I would give books as prizes. One year I gave out so many books that some of the students tried to return them to me. So I started including other prizes like fidget toys.

After posting this cover, I think I’m going back to books as prizes. Making a student choose between a toy and a book isn’t really fair. I’d rather they struggle with choosing between two great books. Hopefully that book will change their lives.
